Auto-Regenerate on Note Append
in progress
Michael Branning
Currently, when users iteratively add content to an existing note, the system transcribes the appended recording and attaches it to the end.
However, many users (myself included) find that after each append, they immediately regenerate the entire note to see how the full content is shaping up.
This results in multiple manual regenerations, adding unnecessary steps and wait time.

Michael Branning happy to share this is an option coming in Cleft 2.0 in November 🥳

Proposed Solution
Introduce an “Append & Auto-Regenerate” mode that automatically regenerates the note upon adding a new recording.
This would streamline the workflow by eliminating the need for two separate transcription processes and reducing friction for users who frequently refine their notes.
Current Flow:
1. Append note recording
2. Transcribe append
3. Summarize append
4. Manually regenerate the entire note
5. Final state: One full transcript + updated summary
Proposed Flow:
Considering a setting to allow the following:
1. Enter “Append & Auto-Regenerate” mode
2. Append note recording
3. Transcribe append
4. Automatically regenerate the full note (transcript + summary)
Implementation Suggestion
- Toggle switch above the record button on existing notes to control behavior:
- Standard Append: Adds transcription without regenerating.
- Auto-Regenerate Append: Automatically regenerates the note after appending.
- This allows flexibility for users who may prefer a simple append vs. a full regeneration.
#### Expected Benefits
- Faster, more seamless iteration for users adding content in multiple passes.
- Potentially reduces overall processing load by eliminating redundant manual regenerations.
- Improves user experience by aligning with common note-taking behaviors for some users.
Nice one for getting this on our radar Michael Branning, opening this to the floor
